From: Adam (model: SEH-102-BAL-INT)

Albert at STL was wonderful to deal with, and the custom hybrid integrated tube amp he designed and built for me is absolutely fantastic. Albert incorporated every feature I requested, and built it from scratch in about 3 weeks. He asked me for feedback on chassis design and components, and even sent me progress photos. When it was all finished, fine tuned and run in, I picked it up… well, the sound from this piece was simply stunning. Mesmerizing, holographic/3D, wide soundstage, dynamic, powerful, silent background, organic… all the good stuff! The music floats between my Spendor speakers, and they seem to just disappear. Plus, the amp looks damn cool - I would describe it as “elegant industrial audio jewelry”. I used to have a Naim amp, which I thought was pretty good… but this amp is on an entirely different level. It’s a revelation to finally hear what a quality stereo can actually sound like. Do yourself a favour and consider buying from STL instead of getting a ‘name brand’ amp. You’ll be glad you did!

From: Philippe (model: BUF-102Mk2 + STR-104Mk2)

Quality hand-made products that deliver what they promise. I visited Al’s lab to learn about the effect that a tube buffer could have in my digital-source, solid-state system of Linn and Simaudio components, which is at the acknowledged neutral end of the sound spectrum. I discussed a number of options and upgrades with him by follow up email. Communications were prompt and his responses detailed and factual. This resulted in an order for a BUF-102 and a STR-104. The final combination of chassis material, components, power source and upgraded tubes was pretty close to a custom design, and I had high expectations. I inserted the buffer between the DAC and preamp. It resulted in an immediate disappearance of glare that I was not aware of, and made the sound more musical and reduced fatigue after hours of listening. It established a larger, more 3-D soundstage, greater separation and more air between sources (instruments, performers). It provided better mid-range sound, primarily warmer and more filled out. On the small con side, there is some loss of upper end detail, manifested as the minor veiling of what was in part harshness but in part not; the spoken “s” and “sh” sounds and cymbals are slightly less distinct. This veiling depends on the quality of the recording and sound processing, and thus it is not uniform. In fairness, I have not yet reached full burn-in hours and so things will still change. The system shows up poor recordings even more ruthlessly – a sign of higher resolving ability. The loss of highs/top end clarity is a generic criticism of tube vs. solid-state sound. It can probably be addressed by substituting tubes to reach one’s preferred sound, although the tube rolling game is often one of give-and-take. The existing bass coherence (speed and quality) was largely unaffected by the buffer, possibly because I run a pair of large REL subs with the Linn speakers, and they just took the new tube output in their stride. Across the spectrum, there are now significantly longer note decays and a darker background, and a lower noise floor which allows the hearing of more of the secondary recorded information (hall reverberation, decay echo). It also allows listening at lower volume, i.e. no need to turn it up to hear everything. My verdict: in spite of the small perceived upper end change, overall this is a significant upgrade to the sound quality because it is more enjoyably musical. I wanted to experience tubes in the path, and the buffer delivered that; the change is positive, so it’s not going back. More change is possible, as is less; it is a matter of personal sound preference. But no matter how tubey you go, the gear developed by Space-Tech Lab is of very, very solid quality. And, unsurprisingly, Al’s after-sale follow ups have been very professional. This earns my unqualified recommendation.

From: LEO (model: DA-64XT-Super)

Model DA-64X-T-Super_Mk3 In short, it is superb. All sensibly priced DACs I ever happened to hear, which had any over-up-re-sampling or proprietary digital signal processing, sounded flat, compressed or harsh. That experience lead me to become a proponent of NOS DACs, which I found very pleasing to my ear. So for quite a while I was relishing a NOS 6922 tube DAC custom made for me, and kept wondering how could ever any, even a mega-buck DAC make the sound better than perfect. Now I know how. First thing I found interesting in STL DACs were power tubes used for small signal, which seems to me an ingenious idea, and yet actually is not in violation of electronics laws. So why not, unless you wanted to cram your tube system into a small car. In addition, two tubes per channel, large tube rectifier and ability to use multiple kinds of tubes open virtually limitless possibilities for sound tweaking. The only thing I was suspicious about was digital processing, but given very attractive price, I decided to try. And - voila! Without mega-bucks... Compared to my beloved DAC, I,ve got considerably deeper bass, more extended treble, wider and deeper soundstage, much more air and absolutely natural timbres. And after a month of testing, I can vouch for the big, airy, clean, subtle, balanced and organic sound this DAC has. Even "flat" sounding recordings, like many from 70s, sound very much listenable, without having to bring out dimensions by overly bright or microphonic tubes, which would usually make bass boommy or muddy. Apparently, not all processing is bad, it depends how the digital stage is made. This DAC renders a very precise and refined reproduction of sound from the source. We know that there is no a single ideal tube, or ideal transistor, or ideal transformer that could ideally fulfill demands of human ear. If one desires something special in treble, one will end up with unlistenable bass. If one achieved perfect bass, one would lose magic in mid range. With this DAC, nothing is sacrificed for anything. Given its superb digital stage and right combination of tubes, I managed to achieve sound ideal to my capricious ears, and so can everybody. And Albert is a pleasure to deal with. I am very grateful for his help, support and advice from the very beginning, when selecting the DAC, all the way through tube rolling. Thank you Albert.

From: Schneider (model: QA-115 and STR-104)

Purchased a QA-115 with 104 super rectifier and love the improvements in inner details and dynamics on my flea powered SET amp.

From: Paul (model: DA24/192-Super)

I purchased this dac off Albert after reading all the positive feedback about his gear. Well I can testify to one thing, the DA-24/192-Super is really super. The soundstage is so big and wide, the imaging is spot on. The music just flow so smooth. Now for once I can sit down to really enjoy digital music, crank up the volume and don't wanna leave my seat. Now all I have to do is decide what my next purchase from Albert will be :)
Great job Albert

From: Stacy (model: DA32XT-USB)

I purchased the da32 power dac from albert at space tech labs and was totally astonished at the difference between power tubes and signal tubes used in the tube output of the dac. There was a huge increase in air, detail and 3 dimensionality. the digital artifacts in my wav files just totally disappeared. I've listened to a few high priced dacs but none of them match the purity of the da32. Albert is prompt and a pleasure to work with. If your looking for the ultimate dac for any audio system or computer audio I highly suggest that you look into space techs da 32 power dac. For all that much, all of his tube systems are superb. Have a good day.

From: Barry (model: SEH-100)

There is something special for me in the relationship that I have when dealing directly with the designer and builder of high end products. Albert is such a person. This is my 5th purchase from him and the new SEH-100 amplifer is just fantastic for the ambient speakers that I have added to my system. As in all of his latest designs I can choose any number of tubes that change the sound without worry of damage to the product or the bias changing. Well done Al!!

From: Min (model: EasyTubeTester 1.2)

Your tester is SO easy to use even for someone like me, who knows nothing about tubes ( I really like the sound of tube though). it really is great product for testing few simple tubes for home use.

From: Mike (model : CD-002)

I first contacted SpaceTechLabs in regards to Shumann Resonater and ended up just being awestruck by all the products that they make. I contacted Al about the unit and he got back to me right away. I did not purchase that particular product but did enquire about one of their CD players and asked about the possibility of a demo unit  as I am on a budget. They did not have one available at the time but Al suggested an older unit that did not come with a remote. The price was right and I had him send it over .It arrived very well packed and secure.

I was blown away by the sound, detailed but not to analytical and crystal clear and full bodied. Needless to say my Audio Note cdt one is now for sale.

Even though I purchased an older used product the newer version with remote is still $400 less than the Audio Note was used.

Al is what makes this hobby interesting and fun I have emailed him numerous times since my purchase and he has always got back to me, answered my questions even an e mail I sent at 9 at night.  Considering most high end stores they won’t even talk to you when you walk in I find this type of serviceawsome. And to boot he makes a great product .

I am still going to try the Schuman device when I get a chance and his subsonic enhancer has me truly intrigued.

From: Alan (model : DA 24/192 XT)

When I got home I immediately plugged in the DA-24/192xt  to my system. I am using my Resonessence Concero HD as a USB/spdif converter. I am using Audio Sensibility  copper testament interconnects between my dac to Simaudio Moon 340i Integrated amp. Atlas opus 75 ohm coaxial is used between the dac and usb/spdif converter.
The system has transformed alot in this upgrade.  Note decay is so natural and vocals have never sounded this good in my modest system.
The dac has a musical emotional connection that I never had.  The soundstage has a realistic feel that gives you the sensation that feels "right" and not artificial. I'm seriously blown away in how the dac changes a song with emotional content that give you a feel for the music.

From : Bill (model: IA-300B-STR)

Well, I received the integrated amp a couple of days ago (at night), and all is working out just fine. I've been running the amp, and from the first listen I heard an improvement in the sound. A lot more detail than I've heard before. All I can say is; GOOD JOB! The amp looks good (wife acceptance factor) and sounds good. I'm real happy.

Oh, I've been listening with my AR3a's and I'm getting good base! I have no problems with that match. And it's going to get better-I'm using a general Electro Harmonix 300B to break in the amp. Once I get familiar with the amp, I'm going to start rolling some better tubes in it. For the 866A, the 6SL7, the 6SN7, and the 300B;

Oh, and before I forget, your owners manual is SUPERB! Probably one of the best manuals I've ever seen. I like how you list the different tube types. I figure if you keep sending out this manual (& like-others to go with your other gear), you may win an award! I'd give you the "Gold Star Award".

From : Harv (model: QA-808-Mk2)

 the preamp is amazing!
With Rock music the bass, definition, body and sound stage are much improved.
But with complex classical and coral music I cannot quantify the comparison.  It is like comparing a pea to a watermelon.
You should really charge twice the money for your products - but please wait until I have finished buying my system.

From : Dr. Soo (model: QA-111-Mk2)

It basically sounds just fine straight out of the box.  It's on my secondary system, hooked up to a Cary Audio SLA-70 amp (with upgrade to run 6550/KT88 drivers).  The sound stage is well defined and deep, with warm sounds, good clarity, agility, and dynamic range on my Sonus Faber minima speakers.  I was wondering what valves it will come with and am very pleased to see the long cage Mullards.

From : Harv (model: SR-002)

Al, I would say the resonator improves the most important elements of the sound; sound stage, the highs are very extended, the sound is holistic and the bass is tighter.
Over all the sound improvement is almost 50% for me.
Hard to believe really.

From : Steven (model: ASX-103)

ASX was safely delivered, and was waiting for me upon my return. Room mate accepted delivery. I hooked it up, and was
immediately blown away- definitely the best $ that I have ever invested in. Even with all Control Knobs set at
12:00 position there was immediately more dynamics. There was also more decay around each instrument with each
instrument being fleshed out with rock solid imaging. There was also a wider, and deeper Soundstage. The Eminent
Technology LFT 8b Speaker has never been known to really reproduce the dynamics of Classical Music- just one of
it's peculiarities. NOW IT DOES SO IN SPADES! I swear the ASX makes these Speakers sound more like $5000.00
Speakers. Very impressive, don't know why anyone would ever give up an ASX.
I adjusted the Correction Level first, couldn't really hear a large change. For some reason it sounded best at 1:00
position. Adjusted Frequency. At 11:00 Treble sounded a little thin, at 1:00 Midrange sounded just a tad Bloated. 12:00
was perfect balance of extended Treble detail, and Midrange bloom. The 18Hz I adjusted to 1:00 position, and couldn't
hear a change. Adjusted it to 11:00, and now I could hear an increase in Base. I don't know if any of these adjustments
make any sense. I just know that it sounds this way with these particular Speakers. The Base is definitely a keeper.
This is deep Base that is more inside the room, therefore more clearer- and tuneful. It doesn't load the Room Walls with
unwanted secondary vibrations that are anti musical room noise ( Window panes vibrating...etc. ). Compared to this,
Paradigm Powered Subwoofer just muddles up the Music. Know anyone who wants to buy a Powered Subwoofer?
Once again you hit it out of the Ballpark. Thank-you kindly for one of the best value for the money improvements
( One of many ). You do have a talent. I kind of get it now. Most people here have no idea what is capable of their
Audio Systems, or what Space Tech Lab is capable of, especially with CD. So most are chasing High Resolution
Music Files, and Disks. It would probably come as a shock to most that many CDs can actually sound better, and
most of my CDs actually do!  I have heard some decent High Res., but a lot more that sound worse. I kind of get it.
Problem is trying to convince a market dead set on going all out Music File Downloading, and canning all CD
production. Where is one supposed to get his CD Music from in this type of a lop sided Audio Market?  I just wish
that we could hold on to both Formats. Fighting a losing battle here in the U.S., but I know what I hear. Thanks
again for the ASX, and for opening up my ears even further.

From : Barry (model: QA-10001 + HP-100-Super)

After owning a BAT and Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE+ preamps for many years I got the upgrade bug although I wasn't sure that the SF product with every factory upgrade installed could be bettered.
I live in the Vancouver area and came across Space-Tech's CAM ads so paid them a visit at their store. Inside I found Albert who is the owner, designer, and assembler of every custom component he sells. I found him facinating and discovered that his purist design approach with primary regard for sound quality and not specifications to be in sync with mine. I invited him into my home to audition his products and was surprised by how much better they sounded than in every way; better resolution, bandwidth, palpability, air, involvement, and that "rightness" to the sound.
I ordered the QA-10001, HP100 Super, STR-104 and STR 1002 and the sound in my living room has never been better. I was able to sell my current preamp and power amps for close what I paid for these new products in custom oak cabinets!!

.Albert custom made my HP 100 Super with an additional pair of capacitors. I also chose the oak cabinent to maximize my feeling of having a custom unit that is unique. This amp replaced a pair of Rogue Audio M-180 monoblocks and the improvement is not subtle; more detail, air, musicality, high frequencies without sacrificing bass quality and quantity. It proves that you don't have to have 100 lb components to produce worls class sound.

I added the STR 104 Super Rectifier to the amp that improved everything and all this new equipment for the price that I got for my Rogue amps on the used market!
